Are you guys sick of fake "AI assistants" that just spit out text and tell you to do the dirty work? Yeah, me too. It's frustrating as hell. Today, I'm bringing you a desktop-native beast that actually clicks buttons, fills forms, and does what you tell it to do. Enter Flowly.

What the hell is Flowly and why is PH hyping it?

So I was doomscrolling on Product Hunt today and saw Flowly sitting comfortably at Top 4. Long story short for my lazy devs: it's a native desktop AI assistant.

The team behind it (Nocetic) basically got fed up with useless browser chat tabs and Slack bots that describe tasks but can't execute them. So they built this. Here's why it's pretty badass:

  • Truly Native: Real binaries for macOS, Windows, and Linux (Linux users, rejoice!). It lives in your menubar, as a notch overlay, and is summoned by one global hotkey.
  • It Actually DOES Things: Through a browser extension, it doesn't just parse URLs like a dumb bot. It reads the DOM, plans, acts, and verifies. You tell it to fill a form, drive Google Sheets, or draft an email, and it does the clicking.
  • Proper Security: OS-level encrypted token storage (Keychain on macOS, DPAPI on Windows).
  • Persistent Sessions: Running a long task? Walk away, grab a coffee, come back—the stream picks up where it left off. Continuity at its finest.

The Word on the Street (Product Hunt Edition)

As usual, when a cool tool drops, the tech community comes out to dissect it:

  • The Founder's Flex: Hakan (the creator) jumped in to confirm that v1.0.18 is free during the launch. He's practically begging users to throw weird edge cases at the browser agent to test its limits.
  • The Classic PH Shameless Plug: Of course, it wouldn't be Product Hunt without someone commenting: "Great launch! I'm also launching my app today, support swapped!" Gotta respect the hustle, though it's always funny to see.
  • The Ultimate Memory Question: Philip Kubinski asked the real question: "Does it remember who I am, or does it have short-term memory loss?" Hakan nailed the response: Flowly silently learns as you chat, building a small, local knowledge graph. You can even read or edit it yourself. No cloud-based privacy nightmares.

The C4F Verdict: Automate or Die

Honestly guys, amidst a sea of generic ai tools that only know how to generate paragraphs, an action-oriented Agent is what we actually need.

The idea of AI reading the DOM to interact isn't brand new, but packaging it into a fast, native app with a global hotkey is a huge UX win. Just be careful giving an AI the power to click—tell it to "clean up my files" and it might just format your hard drive. But hey, it's free right now, so download it, test it out, and see if it can survive your workflow.
